There are well over 70 established problems at the Brickyard. Surrounded by a dense collection of tress, the brickyard is one of the most enjoyable bouldering locations in Santa Barbara year round — although in the summers it is known for having a poison oak and rattlesnake problem.
What Makes It Great
Problems range from V0 to V12. Some of the favorites are Dancing Outlaw (V8); Charlotte’s Web (V3); and Yeti (V4). With its high concentration of problems for being a somewhat small cluster of boulders, the Brickyard remains a local favorite for many climbers in the area. With its easy accessibility, no shortage of problems, and generally good quality sandstone rock, the Brickyard is a great spot for an afternoon climb.
Who is Going to Love It
This is one of Santa Barbara's most developed bouldering areas, so there will always be new projects to unlock. It can get a little busy but there are always routes available to challenge. Climbers who want day out with a lot of variety will dig the Brickyard.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
The Brickyard is located off West Camino Cielo and is not as far as the Lizard’s Mouth. The turnout is adjacent to a large rock formation and behind this, in the distance, you will see a row of cliff faces called Bunker Hill.
