Cedars of Lebanon

With 117 campsites, a swimming pool, disc golf, and 8 miles of hiking trails, Cedars of Lebanon State Park, located only 45 minutes east of downtown Nashville, is a wonderful state park to visit for a family weekend camping trip, or for a solid trail run or hike. The park is a bit different than most of the hardwood forests of central Tennessee, as it is home to cedar glade habitats, which are characteristic of the Eastern Basin. There are numerous trails, but my favorite is the 5-mile (8 km) Hidden Springs Trail, which starts near the picnic area, loops through a variety of terrain, characteristic of the park, including a large limestone sink, streambed, several dense cedar glades, and a stand of mixed red cedar and oak-hickory forest. There are 18 known caves in the park, including Jackson Cave, whose entrance is over 30 feet high.
