Intro
A true Colorado and Front Range classic, this trail grouping is a must-do for dirt enthusiasts new to- or visiting- Denver. Everyone in the area knows of the diversity and technical challenges White Ranch Park has to offer. Both the uphills and downhills are challenging, even for those accustomed to the terrain.
What Makes It Great
White Ranch also boasts some of the best views in the area as well as a variety of choices for fat tire enthusiasts. Don’t stress about being on the right trail because it’s a loop and there are plenty of options for rides here. The climb up the Maverick trail is approximately 1800 vertical feet, a calling to flatlanders and a weekly challenge ride for locals. As with all trails at this elevation/latitude, be aware of wildlife, summer thunderstorms, lightning, dehydration and the like. Again, this location is based out of Golden, Colorado, a virtual outdoor Mecca and heavenly escape from any city. The trail is ridden quite a bit and can be rutted, featuring drops and loose rocks, so keep those tips up. Water crossings keep things interesting. Options include not only the Maverick trail but also the Mustang trail, Rawhide trail (flat) and Belcher Hill trail (a challenging 4.5-mile offshoot). The area features more than 20 miles of multi-use trail; so practice on your trail etiquette and be prepared to have an adventure. You’ll find plenty of watering holes and gas stations to send you on your way.
Who is Going to Love It
White Ranch Park has over 20 miles of trails and some of the best views in the Denver area. There are flat trails and challenging trails - something for every kind of mountain biker.
