Every year the Charlotte running calendar sees fewer free days. Each week is filled with all manner of group runs and races.
Combining two of the best things in the world, weekly beer runs have become one the most popular events in the Queen City. Organized by NoDa Brewing, Triple C Brewing, The Grapevine, and others, these can bring hundreds of social runners out for a good workout and great craft beer. The running community coalesces in several different groups, each one welcoming of different paces. The Charlotte Running Club is among the largest, offering a full schedule of weekly events and yearly races. Charlotte Runners Meetup organizes several group runs each week in some of the most scenic areas of the Queen City.
Thanks to the City, County, and the Carolina Thread Trail, the greenway system in Charlotte adds scenic and safe running miles every year. McAlpine Creek and McMullen Creek greenways offer a pleasant, shaded workout while The Trolley Trail and Sugar Creek Greenway show off the city skyline and connect to several great bars and restaurants.
